Session 1: Fuel Supply Chain Primer and 2020 IMO Changes Presented by Jake Fry, Manager of Fleet Solutions Love's Travel Stops (CPE Specialized Knowledge - 1 credit)
This presentation will cover the basics of the fuel supply chain and how the commodity futures market affect over the road (OTR) diesel prices. We will also discuss the facts of International Maritime Organization's (IMO) 2020 regulations and how the change may impact diesel prices and possibly fuel surcharges.
Jake Fry has been in working in the transportation fuel industry for 12 years. He has worked for Love’s Travel Stops as manager of fleet solutions for the past seven years. He is a diesel fuel price expert with a specialty in developing strategies to minimize fuel price volatility and fuel surcharge strategies. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family and playing golf.
Session 2: 2020 Economic Outlook Presented by Jack Atkins, Managing Director of Transportation Research Stephens Inc. (CPE Economics - 1 credit)
This presentation will discuss the key theme and macro-economic trends impacting the truckload and less-than-truckload industries as well as our current outlook for demand and rates and capacity in 2020. Finally my presentation will discuss the key drivers of stock performance within the sector and our outlook for the public equities in the group over the next year.
Jack Atkins is a research analyst covering the logistics/maritime & truckload/less-than-truckload sectors. He joined Stephens in August 2007 as a research associate in the Industrials group, with a primary focus on industrial distribution and service companies. He was promoted to analyst on the transportation research team in August 2011. Jack holds a B.A. in history from Auburn University and an M.A. with a concentration in history from Virginia Tech.
